Chrome extension
The MeetFlovv Chrome extension for Google Meet
The MeetFlovv Chrome extension captures a Google Meet call from your own browser: the meeting tab's audio plus your microphone while you are unmuted. Nothing joins the call, and you get the same transcript and notes as with MeetFlovv Bot.
The extension is not in the Chrome Web Store yet. To install it now, email contact@meetflovv.com and we will send you the install steps. You can also use MeetFlovv Bot today, which needs nothing installed.
What the extension records
It records
- The meeting tab's audio, which carries everyone else's voices.
- Your microphone, only while Google Meet shows you as unmuted.
- Who is speaking, read from Google Meet's captions. The extension turns captions on in your Meet tab for this, and lines have no speaker name if Meet's captions are unavailable.
It does not
- It does not record video, only audio.
- It does not add a participant to the call.
- It does not start on its own: capture begins only when you choose Start Notes.
How to use it
- Install the extension in Chrome 116 or later on your computer, and pin it to the toolbar.
- Sign in to MeetFlovv in the same Chrome. The extension uses that session, so there is nothing else to log in to.
- Join your Google Meet call, open the extension and choose Start Notes. The transcript appears in your dashboard as the meeting runs.
- Choose Stop Notes when you are done. MeetFlovv finishes the last uploads and writes your notes.
What it uses and why
- Capture the audio of the meeting tab (tab capture).
- Use your microphone, which Chrome asks you to allow the first time.
- Read and interact with Google Meet pages, to detect the meeting, turn on captions and see who is speaking.
- Keep your settings in the browser (storage).
- Talk to meetflovv.com to upload audio and check that you are signed in.
Frequently asked questions
Does the extension record my microphone when I am muted?
No. The extension mixes your microphone into the recording only while Google Meet shows you as unmuted. When you mute in Meet, your microphone is left out of the recording until you unmute again. Other participants' voices come from the meeting tab's audio, which the extension records for as long as capture runs.
Which browsers does the MeetFlovv extension support?
The MeetFlovv extension supports Google Chrome on desktop and laptop computers. It does not run on phones or tablets. If you are not using Chrome, you can still capture a meeting with the MeetFlovv Bot, which joins from MeetFlovv's servers and needs nothing installed on your computer, only a Google Meet link.
Do other participants see the Chrome extension?
No. The extension records from your own browser and does not add anyone to the call, so other participants do not see a notetaker in the list. Let them know you are taking notes with MeetFlovv. If you want capture to be visible to everyone, send the MeetFlovv Bot to the meeting instead.
